Twitter is currently being murked by someone who fundamentally misunderstands what makes Twitter great. I don’t think it’s going anywhere for reasons you don’t care about, but this is as good a time as any to talk about some great Utah Jazz tweets.

This is an undisputable tier ranking of the tweets. Other content, like video, that simply circulates via Twitter doesn’t count (e.g., Jordan Clarkson’s “man-on-the-street” interview). The content has to originate from Twitter itself.

Let's get to the tweets!

S-Tier: Legendary Jazz Twitter moments

  • While Gordon Hayward was being courted by, among others, Miami and Boston, his teammate poste

Rudy’s performance on Instagram after Hayward chose to join Boston was also legendary, but Instagram isn’t quite in the spotlight for dire straits like Twitter is (although Mark Zuckerberg is trying his hardest).

  • This tweet was technically sent before the Jazz traded for Jordan Clarkson, but it's still relevant and useful during literally every Jazz game:

A-tier: Will never forget this

  • Rudy Gobert, wise man:
  • Rudy Gobert, art critic:
  • Rudy Gobert, relationship expert/wingman:
  • Vernon Maxwell can be pretty tiresome with the Utah slander bit, but his two best were absolutely incredible:

B-tier: Quite memorable and awesome

  • One of the earliest dunks of Gobert's career:
  • Recency bias here, but the Brian Windhorst meme is becoming a Twitter staple. This somewhat breaks my own rule since it didn't *originate* on Twitter itself, but the meme very much became a Twitter thing, and Mitchell wielding it in his reaction to the trade cemented its legacy as a part of Jazz Twitter history.
  • More recency bias, but this tweet and screen capture get more and more popular as the 2022-23 Jazz keep surprising people with wins:
  • Any time you hear a player say that they "don't hear the noise" or whatever about their team, they are lying: (NOTE: Looks like this has been taken down, but it was a Joe Ingles tweet about the Jazz duo of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert getting "fined together.")
  • It's also awesome that this is Joe Ingles' only liked tweet:
"Legend" indeed
  • More legendary Joe:
Rafters

C-Tier: Oh yeah, I remember that

  • Rudy Gobert, wise man, part deux:
No chance.
  • Rudy Gobert, wise man, part trois:
  • The ridiculous hysteria around Gobert's COVID-19 diagnosis boiled down into one tweet:
  • You know it's an "early Twitter" moment when Vine is implicated:
  • Any time @DragonflyJonez drags "pretty red rocks" Twitter:
BBQ sauce.

Honorable mentions

  • @JimboRudding's running bit to helpfully remind us that Derek Fisher lied to three teams to get out of his contract.
  • @LostTacoVendor was The Original Poster and his tweets on Corbin-era Jazz were extraordinary.
  • "Every other small detail."
  • Baby reveal?
  • Apple stole the #TakeNote hashtag for a hot minute before this 2022 season, prompting many to suggest Utah change its hashtag to @TankNote (prematurely, as it turned out!).

Send me your tweets that I forgot to include: @Mark_R_Pereira. Long Live Twitter!
